YOUNG PEOPLE & NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
To market neighbourhood watch and engage with young people
encouraging them involve themselves with NHW and to report crime.
PROPERTY MARKING PACKS
To purchase 3,000-crime prevention packs including cycle property
marking kits for the South Ribble area
DISTRACTION BURGLARY
To provide security locks for the vulnerable elderly in Chorley that
will be fitted by volunteers. The project is designed at reducing incidents
of distraction burglary.
SHOPWATCH RADIO
To provide funding to upgrade existing Police Radios in Ormskirk Town Centre.
CCTV and radio schemes have been in Ormskirk for 4 years with stats showing a
reduction in crime in each of those 4 years.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES IN ASHURST SKELMERSDALE
To run a series of events in Skelmersdale including activity and quizzes
for 5-11 year olds, art competitions and painting of subway etc. for the older groups.
FOOTBALL LEAGUE ASHURST
To provide Goal Posts, Nets and training equipment for a youth
football Team in Skelmersdale. The team has as many as 50 young people
attending each session.
ALARM CODE VULNERABLE
The provision of gas powered alarm equipment for the use of repeat victims
of crime suffering from arthritis who find it difficult to sue standard equipment.
ST PAUL’S TARGET HARDENING
In an effort to reduce ant-social behaviour and criminal
damage to a church and school a number of initiatives will look at aesthetically
target hardening the area.
VEHICLE CRIME/CCTV AWARENESS
The use of portable tri-signs (signs temporarily fixed to lampposts giving
three different crime prevention messages) to highlight the CCTV facilities and
encourage vehicle owners not to leave valuables in sight and to lock their doors.
2 WHEELS MOTOR PROJECT
Young people involved in motorcycle nuisance will be referred to a ten week
course aimed at education about rider safety and skills, vehicle maintenance and
environmental awareness.
PROPERTY MARKING
1,000 pens will be purchased to encourage local communities to property
mark their valuables so that if they are stolen they can be returned to the rightful
owner if recovered.
BAMBER BRIDGE TOWN CENTRE RADIO SCHEME
The provision of radios to help the local shopkeepers and licensed premises keep
in touch with the police.
BOGUS EXTENSION – PHASE TWO
The reproduction on DVD and video of a theatrical presentation given to
the vulnerable elderly warning of bogus callers.
ANCHOR SECURITY SERVICE
The aim of this project is to enable the elderly residents of South Ribble to
improve their housing conditions, quality of life and promote independent living by
providing a small repairs service with security measures.
VEHICLE CRIME AWARENESS
The purchase of highly visible tri signs for use in vehicle crime hot spot
areas to provide educational messages.
DIVERSIONARY ACTIVITY TO COMBAT JUVENILE NUISANCE
The provision of diversionary activities for young people who are at risk of offending.
CCTV FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS
The installation of CCTV to detect and disrupt criminality and nuisance near elderly
residents and a Mosque in the Chorley area
BRINGING A COMMUNITY TOGETHER
The upgrade of a CCTV facility at Aughton Village Hall to improve security.
BURGLARS CAN’T FLY
The provision of training on scene preservation and the purchase of kits to aid this
training will help to increase burglary detection rates.
PROJECT INSIGHT
An Intervention package aimed at reducing the risk of offending based at HMP Wymott.
DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTH RIBBLE NHW ASSOCIATION
The establishment of a website and the production of promotional material to improve
the service offered by NHW in the South Ribble area.
BOGUS OFFICAL THEATRICAL PRESENTATION
A theatrical presentation on the dangers of bogus officials in the Chorley area.
DAMAGE IS A CRIME CAMPAIGN
A sustained media campaign will educate all age groups that Criminal Damage is an
arrestable offence and if convicted of such an offence the sentence can be up to
10 years in prison
OPERATION CATERWAUL
The purchase of 500 personal attack alarms to be distributed to the most vulnerable
members of the community.
CLAYTON BROOK COMMUNITY GROUP
The provision of activities for the evenings and school holidays for young people
to reduce anti-social behaviour in the Clayton Brook area.
