Partnership, will be used by officers as they undertake visual audits of the town
looking for evidence of criminal damage, litter or graffiti. They will take pictures
of the damaged areas and then form action plans for clean-up operations.
Neighbourhood Policing Sgt Neil Drummond said the cameras would be widely used.
He said: "Criminal damage and anti-social behaviour is becoming an increasing problem
in our area. Issues such as vandalism, fly tipping and graffiti have an effect on people's
perceptions. "The aim of the police and their partners now is to find evidence of
such damage and address the problems as soon as possible by organising repairs or
clean-up operations."
Ian Groundwater, the LANPAC Manager explained why the partnership had funded the
initiative. He said: "A picture paints a thousand words and we are now living in the
digital age where transferring a picture of any unsightly problem electronically
can save time and valuable resources to bring a quick solution to a local problem
using this approach."
The cameras were purchased locally from Cleveleys Photo Centre on Rossall Road.
