Initiatives funded in Eastern Division
Crime Prevention Annual Programme
The purchase of crime prevention equipment and personal security items so that the various equipment can be utilised to respond to crime spikes and trends that occur. The project will help substantially reduce the fear of crime by raising awareness and increasing confidence among the elderly community.
CCTV Deployment
The purchase of 2 complete CCTV monitoring systems, consisting of a CCTV camera, a DVR unit to record images and a monitor to allow viewing which will be used for the recording of images for evidential purposes which can easily be installed into private dwellings of repeat victims of crime.
Friday Night Youth Activities
A new sports provision within the Springhill ward aimed at young people from across Hyndburn to reduce high levels of anti-social behaviour involving young people in the area.
Diversionary Activities for the Kids
A trip to Camelot with young people identified by the Neighbourhood Policing Team as vulnerable and possibly at risk of offending.
Lower Darwen Youth Project
Resources for Lower Darwen community centre in conjunction with Young Peoples Services to hold one 2 hour youth club session a week.
Excellent Xbox
Supplying resources to an existing youth club to provide a diversionary activity specifically targeting those young people that have been identified by the NPT as at risk of offending.
Beat the Thief
The purchase of basic aids such as the sat nav cloth and the tamper proof number plate screws to reduce vehicle crime.
Stuck on You
The purchase of anti vandal paint which will ensure the NPT can respond to lead thefts and attempted thefts in a positive and effective manner.
Safe as Houses
The NPT in conjunction with partner agencies will conduct visits to the houses of vulnerable residents within the Roe Lee, Brownhill and Sunnybower area, providing a bogus caller pack. Officers will demonstrate to residents the fitting and effective use of each component contained within the pack.
Shear Brow Crime Prevention Taster
The provision of crime prevention information, advice and support to Shear Brow Luncheon Club. Given the multi-cultural nature of the area, the club was set up in 2010 with the aim of attracting residents (with a particular emphasis on women) of all ethnic origins in order to promote and develop the racial and social cohesion.
Hushed Football
The issue of sponge footballs to the groups of children and area’s in most need of attention in order to reduce antisocial behaviour and criminal damage to property and vehicles and increase children’s safety.
