Initiatives funded in Central Division
Preston Rural Farm Watch
The purchase of signs and literature for the farms and business on the Farm Watch database to deter criminals from committing offences on their properties.
Rural Out and Bound
Continuation of project started early last year but now looking at involving children at primary school level. Last year an out and bound initiative working in conjunction with the Lancashire Scout Group at Waddecar and Beacon Fell Ranger Service saw over 300 local children visit these areas to use the facilities free of charge and participate in team activities and character building with High School pupils.
Hospital Mobile Camera
Video devices to be used at Royal Preston Hospital to record criminal or anti-social behavior that can be used for evidential purposes. The actions and behaviour of some does not only have an impact for patients and staff but increasingly more and more local residents are suffering as a result of issues at the Hospital.
UCLAN Drink Awareness
Crime prevention advice, leaflets and promotional material ensure that new UCLAN students are aware that they could be potential victims of crime. Targeting students on arrival to the city and the University during safety week has shown that they are security conscious and are aware that alcohol related incidents do ‘happen’ to students.
