Crimestoppers
LANPAC has been rewarded by Crimestoppers in recognition
of its support and promotion during another record breaking year.
The Crimestoppers and LANPAC logos are promoted on all
documentation produced by both charities in a bid to increase
awareness of each others good work.
The Crimestoppers Silver Award was presented to the LANPAC Chairman
by John Barnett who is the Lancashire Crimestoppers Board Chairman.
2002 involved over 10,000 calls to Crimestoppers and as a
result 3,840 ‘actions’ were sent out to various law enforcement
agencies including the police, HM Customs, Benefits Agency etc.
This is an increase of almost 50 ‘actions’ a month,
resulting in the arrest and charge of 210 offenders,
an increase of almost three a month over the previous year.
£142,113 worth of drugs and £196,153 worth of goods including
vehicles were recovered. Of those eligible for rewards only 6
callers claimed a total of £775.
